Dvorit Shargal, WBF2009

Dvorit
Dvorit Shargal was an editor, a Senior Editor and a Writer in some of the Israeli printed newspapers, including Hadashot, Yedioth Ahronot’s local edition, Maariv’s magazines, and the Israeli edition of  National Geographic. Following her career at the printed newspapers she was the chief editor of Tapuz, one of Israel’s most popular Internet portals.

Dvorit is the creator and the writer of a well-known media-criticism daily blog (launched at the last day of 2005), named Velvet Underground, that criticize & follow meticulously the recent events in the newspapers and media arenas in Israel.

As she referred to herself by the pseudonym “Velvet” – at the first half year nobody knew her identity – she documented each and every development, and also some behind the scenes actions that took place – such as new personas that are being appointed for key media roles and big media scandals – sometimes exposing them herself. Velvet Underground is one of the most popular blogs in Israel.

At the moment she writes on her blog, lectures about blogging and the interaction between blogs & the media and tries to do her first steps in screenwriting.
